This photograph was taken at the oldest operating drive-in theater in the United States. There was something surreal about the fictitious night sky against the actual one and the retro styling against the very modern-looking cars that I wanted to capture.
This photo was taken at largest wildlife conservation center in North America. The lighting combined with the grouping of animals created something that seemed magical and otherworldly to me.
This was taken in California farmland shortly after the wildfires. The air was still very smoky and it had began to storm - there was a chaotic energy all around, but on this one small spot on the mountain, there was a peaceful scene.
This aerial shot was taken above a beach in Chicago. You don’t usually associate vibrant color with a Chicago-based beach, but the patterns and colors really stood out to me and many of the tiny figures looked like they had stories to tell.
This shot was ironically taken after an all-day photo shoot. The sun had just gone down right by this meadow filled with wild flowers - it was a lovely combo of shadowy darkness against a variety of light pastel colors. In the distance there was a stark-white dead tree and a heron made a last-minute decision to come land on it. It made a ghostly yet beautiful scene that I felt fortunate to witness - luckily I had my camera with me to capture the unique moment.
Pattern & Texture
I had the pleasure of actually meeting this guy up close and personal. However, before that happened, he was standing close by with the strong midday sun around him. You could really take notice of the bold, graphic pattern and texture of his coat.
This photograph was taken along the Oregon coast. The fog and rain that day created a hazy, almost dreamlike atmosphere that make it impossible to see out into the ocean. The view abruptly stops right after the large rock formations that seem to create these somewhat imposing figures. If you look very closely you can see birds perched on them.
This image was taken in a garden just as the sun was going down. The light combined with the subject matter looked reminiscent of an old oil painting. I thought it would be interesting to try to capture that same look with the modern twist of photography.
There's a Light
Despite the cold and wind that day, there is an overall calm and peaceful feel to this image, thanks to the glowing lighthouse and the painted sky.
Start of Summer
The sun had recently set (you can still see some remaining light on the horizon) after actually spending the day doing a photo shoot celebrating a couples’ recent engagement. I was finishing packing up when I spotted all of the fireflies starting to come out and thought how serene the image looked, they all looked like tiny embers against the dark surroundings.
I was looking at this delicate, fluffy little creature that had very recently been born and it was already just so curious and bold - I had to snap its photo simply out of pure amusement. When I was later going through my images, there ended up being something about the spirit of this little chick that I really did find engaging.

These images were taken on opposite coasts, at opposite times of year, and of two tiny cottages of opposing styles. Yet, they both seem to have this aura of this perfect little getaway that you could escape to. There is something that I appreciate about the differences and also the similarities of these two images when they are paired together.

Autumn in New England
This was taken on a drive through Massachusetts. I wanted to captured the look of the rich, fiery colors of the environment against the cast of the cool, windy day.
